Give the gift of a life transformed this Christmas
“I don’t need anything.”
Do you have friends or relatives who always say this when you ask what they want for Christmas?
If they really do seem to have everything, perhaps you would consider giving a Christmas gift on their behalf towards a new prosthetics and orthotics service being started by MAI partners in Chad.
This service could be life-changing for someone like Ali. He’s an 18-year-old farmer from Chad, and his foot had to be amputated after he was a passenger in a bad motorbike accident. He still has his whole life ahead of him, but he is no longer able to work, and doesn’t know what he’ll do to support himself.
£20 could pay for a prosthetic foot for someone like Ali.
£41 could buy parts for a basic prosthetic limb.
£127 could buy a prosthetic knee joint for a child.

So far, Ali has been unable to get a prosthetic foot. He is one of an estimated 95,000 people who would benefit from prosthetics and orthotics in Chad, but there are just six clinicians working in two prosthetics and orthotics centres serving the entire country.
The Guinebor 2 Hospital, an MAI partner, is already providing affordable quality health care in Chad. Now, two British Prosthetist/Orthotists based at the hospital are planning to set up a new prosthetics and orthotics service to meet some of this desperate need. But they urgently need our help so they can start caring for people like Ali as soon as possible.
This Christmas, you could give your loved ones the gift of knowing that they have helped to transform a life. Or why not ask someone else to give a gift on your behalf? It could make all the difference to someone like Ali.
You can use the gift certificate below to let people know that you have given a gift on their behalf, which includes a link to a video and more information about this new service. Click here for a large version of the gift certificate.
By next Christmas, Ali could be walking again, working again, and dreaming about the future again, thanks to the generosity of people like you.
