For £30 a month you can provide one day of critical care for a seriously ill patient, including medication, vital procedures such as CT scans, and compassionate staff care.
When Ghamabai started struggling to breathe, she turned to local ‘healers’ for help.
The ‘healers’ branded Ghamabai in the area of her lungs, saying it would drive out the evil spirits causing the problem. They did nothing but leave her with scars.
Eventually, someone told her about CCH. Ghamabai had never been to a hospital before – she didn’t think she could afford it. Ghamabai lives in an extremely poor and remote part of India, where over 70% of people live on less than £1.50 a day.
At CCH, she was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a serious lung condition that makes it difficult to breathe. After blood transfusions, oxygen support in the ICU, care and love, Ghamabai finally started to feel better.
COPD is the third leading cause of death worldwide. Without help, Ghamabai’s condition would have steadily worsened. The support of people like you helped to pay for Ghamabai’s treatment – and saved her life.
