South Sudan: How a simple pair of glasses changed a life
Alex’s eye sight was so poor that he couldn’t leave the house on his own. He couldn’t work, and without help he couldn’t even visit friends or run small errands.
But this year, the eye team from the Martha clinic heard about Alex. They transported him the 50 miles to the clinic – a journey over dirt roads, with the risk of being ambushed by the violent bandits that operate in the area.
Thankfully Alex arrived safely, and after tests at the clinic they provided him with the strong glasses he needed. He now has the freedom to go out on his own!

Give the priceless gift of sight to twice as many people like Alex
A simple pair of glasses completely changed Alex’s life. If the Martha team hadn’t found him, he may never have discovered that help was possible or affordable for him. There is no other eye clinic for 100 miles.
Alex is just one of thousands whose lives have been transformed by the Martha clinic. Without the support of people like you, their work wouldn’t be possible.
Will you give to provide free eye care to others like Alex, and give the priceless gift of sight?
The great news is that, as part of our Twice Gold appeal, every £1 you give in October will become £2, thanks to our generous appeal patrons.
