Twice Gold: “Grateful to get their child back alive”
Be a beacon of strength…to those who have none
Six-year-old Pallavi was unconscious when her family brought her to the Chinchpada Christian Hospital.
She had been suffering with fevers for two weeks and had steadily worsened.
“Her parents were shattered and helpless when they brought her to us,” says Dr Ashita Singh. “Her father was asking whether she would live.”
She was diagnosed with subacute meningo-encephalitis, probably due to TB or a partially treated bacterial infection, and taken to the ICU. The team gave her the treatment she needed, but she remained in a coma.
Thankfully, after being treated for five days, she regained consciousness. With continuing care, her condition steadily improved. Dr Ashita says, “Her parents were relieved and grateful to get their child back alive.” Pallavi’s family would not have been able to afford her vital care elsewhere.
