MAI has funded the building of Romogi Primary Health Care Clinic which will serve the town and surrounding villages amounting to at least 25,000 people.  The facility is nearing completion as the photo below shows.  Our grants have provided the full building cost, solar power, borehole water pumping and storage as well as medical equipment and furniture.  The Centre is the vision of Anthony Poggo, former Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Kajo Keji. The previous Health Centre was part of a mission compound with a church and school as well. The church and school have been rebuilt under the leadership of the Bishop – Anthony Poggo – who formerly headed ACROSS – a South Sudan organisation committed to holistic community transformation. The last part of the jigsaw is the Health Centre. The aim of this Primary Health Care Unit will be the lowering of maternal and infant mortality in the area as well as advancing health education and disease prevention. The building will provide not only consultation space but house a laboratory and dispensary. These elements will assist with local sustainability.

Bishop Anthony Poggo has visited the UK to help raise these funds by sharing what is happening in South Sudan and the work of community development that the church – as a trusted civil society partner – is pioneering.
