Shelton is a grateful recipient of Navajeevana’s holistic care. He has been a fisherman and was doing quite well. That was, until he suffered a stroke which affected the use of his right leg. Then came the tsunami in which he lost everything. Although he has children (his wife having died some time ago), he is estranged from them and they give him no assistance.
Struggling with a wound that would not heal, he sought help from Navajeevana. Given the necessary treatment, he was diagnosed with peripheral vascular disease. He was referred to hospital and eventually his leg was amputated below the knee. Now, he is able to walk with the aid of an artidficial limb. The old wound has been healed following prayers by the Navajeevana nurses who care for him most days. Navajeevana has been providing Shelton – now 80 years old – with on-going medical support free of charge and are hoping to secure a place for him in a residential care home.
