We are delighted to report that our Partner in South Sudan has been able to reach a Partnership Agreement with the Government of South Sudan (GoSS) which fully recognises their medical work for the country, both at Yei and Goli. This formal agreement will make many aspects of the administration of their healthcare intiatives far more secure. Ordering and importing drugs from Uganda will be much easier, for example.

Already, the work in Yei had received State support with the secondment of a laboratory technician, funded by the government but managed by EPC’s medical team. Under the new agreement, Bishop Taban has informed us that there is a possibility of GoSS providing surgical staff for Goli.

The only drawback is that surgery will be delayed a little longer at Goli as the Government carries out an assessment on Isabu Dhatta, the Congolese nurse who is trained and experienced in surgery. It’s a cloud with a considerable silvre lining!
